Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is always included

Damage to the rental car caused by your own fault is covered by the CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) insurance. In addition, (attempted) theft of equipment from the car is also covered. What does the Collision Damage Waiver cover?

At Sunny Cars we understand that damage to the paint, a scratch or a dent can occur. An accident can happen at any time. That's why we include CDW insurance by default. Did you hit something? A parked vehicle for example? That damage is also insured and you will get your excess back. Even if an animal damages your car, it is covered. For example: one of our customers once had a goat on the roof of his parked car, causing many dents. So yes, those things really happen!

With the standard included windows-tires-undercarriage-roof damage coverage, you are also insured for damage to the windows or tires, for example. Everything is included!

What to do when the rental car is damaged?

Do you see scratches, dents or other damages to the car when you pick it up? Make sure to write it down on the rental contract and take pictures of the car. Was the car accidentally damaged during the rental period? Fill in the damage form immediately and contact the local partner. The phone number can be found on your voucher and on the papers you receive from the local fleet provider. Our advice: take photos, so you always have proof.

Refund of the excess in case of damage to the rental car

With Sunny Cars you are always on the safe side. You do not have to pay for the excess. In the unfortunate event of damage to the rental car, it is possible that you will have to pay the excess (often equal to the deposit) on the spot. But don't worry! Once back home you can easily claim the amount via the online claim form. Sunny Cars will refund you the excess amount.

Check foreign names of frequently used insurances

When you pick up the rental car at your destination, the rental contract is often in the language of that country or in English. It may also contain other terms to indicate (extra) insurances. Always check the rental contract to make sure you haven't accidentally added something extra. Pay extra attention to the terms LDW (Loss Damage Waiver) and SCDW (Super Collision Damage Waiver), because LDW and SCDW are additional damages insurances that you really don't need. After all, you are already insured 100% all-in through us.

Do I need to take out an additional damage insurance?
