With two terminals, the airport offers many facilities to make your trip comfortable and pleasant. Lisbon is a vibrant city with a rich history, beautiful architecture and lively culture. Popular attractions such as the historic Alfama district, the iconic Belém Tower and the famous Tram 28 are easily accessible by car. Lisbon Airport is only 7 km from Lisbon city centre. Via the A1 and the 2ª Circular you can be in the heart of the city within 15 minutes. On the way, you'll pass Parque das Nações, a modern area with impressive architecture and attractions such as the Oceanário de Lisboa.
From Lisbon Airport, it's easy to drive to nearby cities. Sintra, about 30 km via the IC19, is known for its beautiful palaces and lush gardens. Cascais, accessible via the A5 and about 35 km away, offers beautiful beaches and a lively promenade.
Portugal's road network is of good quality. It consists mainly of motorways (autoestrada), whose names always begin with the letter A. Many motorways are subject to tolls.
If you mainly want to make short trips to the supermarket or have a coffee at a local café, the Small or Economy category will suffice. Do you plan to cover long distances along the Portuguese coast or through the interior? Then some extra legroom is recommended and you should go for the Compact category. If you want to drive through Serra da Estrela or another mountainous area in Portugal, we recommend a rental car from the Comfort category or higher because of its higher power.
