All about payment at Sunny Cars
You selected your holiday destination, booked your tickets and reserved a rental car. Now all you have to do is complete the payment! But how does that work with Sunny Cars? Read on and let us explain.
When do you have to pay for the rental car?
After you have found the right rental car, you complete the booking. During the online booking process you can choose how you would like to pay. For example, you can choose to pay via iDEAL or by credit card.
After we have confirmed your reservation, you will receive a payment request and you can pay the full amount. It is not possible to make a down payment; you pay the full amount at once. Please note that we must receive your payment no later than 14 days before the start of the rental period. After we have received your payment, we will send you the voucher. This is your proof of where you can pick up the car. By the way, you don't have to worry about what will happen to your rental sum in the meantime, because we are a member of the SGR!
Is there any change in the meantime to your reservation, for example because you rent for a longer period or because you choose a rental car from a higher category? We will send you a new invoice and the payment will be made in the same way.
Paying with iDEAL
Of course you can pay your reservation with iDEAL. It's so easy! After you have made the reservation, you will receive an e-mail with the invoice and a link to our payment platform. Here you will first see a summary of your reservation. From there, you can click through to iDEAL and complete your payment. Simple and quick!
Do you still need a credit card if you pay with iDEAL?
You do not need a credit card to pay for your booking with iDEAL. But watch out! Because you do need a credit card for your car rental . The local car park operator will charge a deposit to your credit card when you pick up your car. This credit card must always be in the name of the main driver.
The only exception to this is if you have opted for our No Deposit service. In that case you do not have to pay a deposit. Then you do not need a credit card for your car rental.
Paying with credit card
You can pay your reservation with your credit card. After you have made the reservation, you will receive an e-mail with the invoice and a link to our payment platform. Here you will see a summary of your reservation first. Then you will be directed to a page where you can enter your credit card details. Often, this is followed by a step from your credit card company where you have to confirm the payment. For example with a code, app or fingerprint.
The amount will only be charged to your credit card once the reservation has been approved. In the meantime, the amount will appear as a reservation on your statement. You have already given permission, but we have not collected anything yet.
Does the credit card you use to pay have to be in the name of the main driver?
No, the credit card you use to pay the reservation to us does not need to be in the name of the main driver. This only applies to the credit card used to pay the deposit on site, as the main driver is responsible for the rental car. But you can also pay the reservation with the credit card of your partner, for example. As long as you bring a credit card in the name of the driver when picking up the car.
Do you have to pay the deposit with the same credit card you used to make the payment?
No, you do not have to pay the deposit with the same credit card you used to pay the rental sum. The payment of the car rental and the payment of the security deposit have nothing to do with each other. You pay us for the rental car and we arrange the rest of it with the local partner. You pay the deposit to the local fleet provider.
Paying by bank transfer
Paying by bank transfer is possible, but paying by iDEAL or credit card is much easier and above all safer! We therefore recommend choosing one of these two payment methods instead of a bank transfer.
Is it possible to pay for the rental car on site?
It is not possible to pay the rental car at the rental location. You rent with Sunny Cars and we transfer your all-inclusive car rental to one of our local partners. Therefore we would like to receive your payment before you pick up the car. You will receive your voucher after you have paid. The voucher is the proof that you are picking up the car and without it you won't be able to take the car with you.
Paying local charges
You pay your reservation to us in advance, but it is possible that you have to pay something locally. Did you book accessories, such as a GPS or child's seat? Will you be crossing a border or did you book a one way? You have to pay these costs to the local car rental company in the local currency. You can pay this by debit card or by credit card. Of course, the costs are clear in advance and there will be no surprises.
Tip: always check the local rental contract to make sure you are not paying for something you do not actually need. Is there something on it that you don't think is right? Inform the desk clerk immediately. Still can't work it out? Get in touch with us!
How do I get my money back if I cancel the car?
If you cancel your rental car, we will make sure that the amount is paid back to you in sixth gear! The refund will be made in the same way you paid for the car. Of course you will receive a cancellation invoice from us afterwards. Hopefully we will see you again soon for a new reservation!
