Get the most out of your car rental with the 24 hour rule

Driving endless kilometres at your holiday destination is a wonderful experience. How many days you rent your car is, of course, predetermined. In the world of car rental, one rental day is always 24 hours. Did you know that with the 24 hour rule you can really get the most out of your car rental? Let us explain how to make the most out of your car rental with the 24 hour rule.

A rental day is 24 hours

Car rental is always calculated over 24 hours. This means that the rental period starts at the moment you receive the car. So if you reserve your rental car from 10:00 AM to 10:00 AM the next day (exactly, that's 24 hours), you pay 1 rental day. However, if you return the car at 12:00 the next day, you will have to pay for another full rental day on top of the first one.

Returning the rental car earlier. What happens to unused rental days?

Are you returning the rental car before the end of your rental period? And as a result you still have unused rental days or parts of the day left over? Then unfortunately, these will not be reimbursed. Car rental is really per 24 hours. Do you rent the car from 09:00 and return it at 17:00 on the same day? That would be a shame, because you may use the car until 09:00 the next morning!

So it is actually very simple: make good use of the 24-hour rule! After all, you are paying for it. You might as well make the most of it.
