The roads in Spain
The road network in Spain is of good quality. There are two types of highways: Autopistas and Autovías. Autopistas are toll motorways and can be recognised by AP or E followed by a road number. Autovías are toll-free motorways and can be recognised by A followed by a road number.
The right rental car category for Spain
The Small or Economy category is fine if you stay near your hotel and only use the car for short trips to el supermercado or that nice tapas joint. Do you plan to do a lot of mileage? Then some extra legroom is no luxury and a car from the Compact category is recommended. If you want to explore a mountainous area in Spain, it is best to choose a car from the Comfort category or higher, because of its higher power.
Spanish food and drink
Spain is famous for its tapas, paella and sangria. Enjoy these delicacies, but remember: don't drive after drinking alcohol.
