The road network in Spain is of good quality. There are two types of highways: Autopistas and Autovías. Autopistas are toll motorways and can be recognised by AP or E followed by a road number. Autovías are toll-free motorways and can be recognised by A followed by a road number.
The Small or Economy category is fine if you stay near your hotel and only use the car for short trips to el supermercado or that nice tapas joint. Do you plan to do a lot of mileage?
