Everything you need to know about car rental changes
Holiday plans can change. We are well aware of that. That's why you can change your reservation free of charge. You can adjust the rental period, pick-up time, car category, driver name, accessories and extra services up until 24 hours before the rental starts. Sounds good, right?
How can you change your reservation?
Changing your booking is quite simple:
- The best way is to send us an e-mail with your wishes. Send an email to email@example.com, mentioning your reservation number and what you would like to change. Our car rental experts will look into the possibilities and contact you or change the reservation for you.
- Does your rental start within 3 days, but would you still like to make some changes? Please call to inform us about your changes.
- You can easily adjust your flight times in your My Sunny account!
Are there any costs for changing a reservation?
Do you want to make a change to your reservation? This can be done up to 24 hours before the start of the rental period. There is no separate fee for this, but a change may lead to a price difference. If the rental car has become more expensive in the meantime, you will pay the price for which the car is offered at the time of the change. If the rental price is lower than your original booking, you will pay less. This applies to almost all types of changes to the reservation such as the name of the main driver, rental dates, car category or destination.
How do I change the (name of the) main driver?
Oops, is the name on the reservation not the same as your name according to your passport? Or would you like to change the name of the main driver because that person has a credit card that you need for the deposit? No problem, in most cases we can change the name of the main driver up to 24 hours before the rental start. Just send us an email with your reservation number and the first and last name as stated in the passport to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will make it happen! Adding or changing flight details?
Didnt have a flight number while you made your booking? Or did your flight times or flight number change? You can change it in your My Booking or My Sunny account. You will find the link to your personal My Booking or My Sunny account in your confirmation e-mail.
Would you like to change the rental dates?
Did you already make a booking but now your holiday plans have changed? Or would you like to pick up your rental car a few days earlier or return it a couple of days later? We are happy to help! Send an e-mail with your reservation number and the desired new rental dates and times to email@example.com and we'll make it happen for you! Does your reservation start within 3 days? Did you already pick up the car and would you like to keep it a little longer? Read how it works below.
Would you like to change the category?
Would you like to have a rental car in a higher category? Or did you book a large car, but prefer a smaller one because of the narrow streets at your destination? No problem at all. Just send an e-mail with your reservation number and the desired rental car to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will make it happen! Does your reservation start within 3 days? Please call our car rental experts so they can discuss the possibilities with you and we can quickly arrange a new reservation for you.
Would you like to add a child seat or GPS to your booking?
Would you like to add accessories, such as a GPS or a child's seat, after making your reservation? In the rental conditions attached to your voucher you will find the available accessories and the prices. Would you like to add an accessory to your booking? Send an e-mail with your reservation number and the accessory of your choice to email@example.com and we will arrange it for you! Does your reservation start within 3 days? Please contact us by phone.
Please note: if you booked the Contactless Pick-up service, we unfortunately cannot add accessories to the reservation for you. This is because with the Contactless Pick-up service a machine dispenses your car keys, without any human interaction. If you want to add an accessory even though you booked the Contactless Pick-up service, we have to reassign the booking to another local fleet provider. This will change the rental price.
Would you like to change the destination?
Sometimes your plans change and you want to pick up the car at another location. Or even in another country. That is no problem either! Have a look on our website to see what is available at your new destination. Did you figure out where you would like to go? Send an e-mail with your reservation number and the new destination, rental car and times to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will arrange it for you! Until when are changes allowed?
You can change your booking from the moment you make the reservation until 24 hours before you pick up the car. The change is of course subject to availability. As soon as we receive your request we will start looking at the possibilities.
Extending the rental period while already driving the car?
You already picked up the car and now you’re thinking: how nice would it be to have this car for a few more days? Sometimes an extension of the rental period is possible. In the rental conditions attached to your voucher you can read whether this is allowed for your reservation. Look for the section "Important rental information". There you will find how to arrange the extension: sometimes you can do it yourself by making a new reservation on our website and sometimes we can organize the extension for you. The latter can be arranged by contacting us on the emergency number during office hours so we can help you right away. Make sure to request the extension at least 24 hours before the end of the rental agreement and within the opening hours of our Customer Service department.
Keep in mind that if the extension is possible, you often have to go back to the rental location to sign the rental contract again.
Would you like to cancel anyway?
Is changing the booking not an option for you and do you have to cancel your reservation? Of course we are sad to hear that, but a cancellation is easily arranged as well.
