Everything you need to know about car rental changes

Holiday plans can change. We are well aware of that. That's why you can change your reservation free of charge. You can do this yourself online in just a few clicks or by phone through us. From the rental period and pick-up time to the car category, driver’s name and accessories. Subject, of course, to availability at the time. Sounds good, right?

How can you change your reservation?

Changing your reservation with us is super simple:

  • You can easily make changes yourself online via your booking overview or your account up to 72 hours before the start of your rental.
  • Picking up your rental car within 3 days but still want to make a change? Then just give us a call on +31 23 5699 696 to let us know what you'd like to change.
  • Do you have any other questions? Then the easiest way is to send us your request by email. Send an email to reservation@sunnycars.nl, mention your reservation number, and clearly state what you'd like to change. Our car rental experts will review the options and then either contact you or adjust the reservation for you.

Are there any costs for changing a reservation?

Do you want to make a change to your reservation? You can do so online up to 72 hours before you collect the rental car. Is your rental starting sooner? Then you can make changes by phone up to 24 hours before the rental begins. There is no separate fee for this, but a change may lead to a price difference. If the rental car has become more expensive in the meantime, you will pay the price for which the car is offered at the time of the change. If the rental price is lower than your original booking, you will pay less. This applies to almost all types of changes to the reservation such as the name of the main driver, rental dates, car category or destination.

Adding or changing flight details?

Didn't have a flight number while you made your booking? Or did your flight times or flight number change? You can update these details yourself via your account or booking overview. You’ll find the link to this in your confirmation email.

Would you like to change the rental dates?

Did you already make a booking but now your holiday plans have changed? Or would you like to pick up your rental car a few days earlier or return it a couple of days later? In most cases, you can easily change this yourself! Go to your account or booking overview and make the changes online. Would you prefer us to help you with this? We’re happy to assist. Send an e-mail with your reservation number and the desired new rental dates and times to reservations@sunnycars.nl and we'll make it happen for you! Is your booking due to start within 24 hours? Please contact us by phone.

Did you already pick up the car and would you like to keep it a little longer? Read how it works below.

Would you like to change the category?

Would you like to have a rental car in a higher category? Or did you book a large car, but prefer a smaller one because of the narrow streets at your destination? No problem at all. You can easily arrange this online via your account or booking overview. Would you prefer us to help you with this? Just send an e-mail with your reservation number and the desired rental car to reservations@sunnycars.nl and we will make it happen! Does your reservation start within 24 hours? Please call our car rental experts so they can discuss the possibilities with you and we can quickly arrange a new reservation for you.

How do I change the (name of the) main driver?

Oops, is the name on the reservation not the same as your name according to your passport? Or would you like to change the name of the main driver because that person has a credit card that you need for the deposit? No problem, you can easily update this yourself online via your account or booking overview. You can also send us an email with your reservation number and the first name and last name as stated in the new main driver’s passport to reservation@sunnycars.nl. Is your rental due to take place within 72 hours? Please contact us by phone.

Would you like to add a child seat or GPS to your booking?

Would you like to add accessories, such as a GPS or a child's seat, after making your reservation? In the specific rental conditions attached to your voucher you will find the available accessories and the prices. Would you like to add an accessory to your booking? Go to your account or booking overview and add it to your booking with a single click. If your reservation start within 24 hours, please contact us by phone.

Please note: if you booked the Contactless Pick-up service, we unfortunately cannot add accessories to the reservation for you. This is because with the Contactless Pick-up service a machine dispenses your car keys, without any human interaction. If you want to add an accessory even though you booked the Contactless Pick-up service, we have to reassign the booking to another local fleet provider. This will change the rental price.

Would you like to change the destination?

Sometimes your plans change and you want to pick up the car at another location. Or even in another country. That is no problem either! Have a look on our website to see what is available at your new destination. Did you figure out where you would like to go? Go to your account or booking overview and easily make changes online. Would you like a car rental expert to help you? Please send an email with your reservation number and the new destination, rental car and times to reservation@sunnycars.nl, or contact us by phone. Our rental car experts will be happy to help!

Until when are changes allowed?

Once you have made your booking, you can make changes online up to 72 hours before pick up the car. You can also contact us by phone to request a change up to 24 hours before pick up. Please note that any changes are subject to availability. As soon as we receive your request we will start looking at the possibilities.

Extending the rental period while already driving the car?

You already picked up the car and now you’re thinking: how nice would it be to have this car for a few more days? Sometimes an extension of the rental period is possible. In the specific rental conditions attached to your voucher you can read whether this is allowed for your reservation. Look for the section "Important rental information". There you will find how to arrange the extension: sometimes you can do it yourself by making a new reservation on our website and sometimes we can organize the extension for you. The latter can be arranged by contacting us on the emergency number during office hours so we can help you right away. Make sure to request the extension at least 24 hours before the end of the rental agreement and within the opening hours of our Customer Service department.

Keep in mind that if the extension is possible, you often have to go back to the rental location to sign the rental contract again.

Would you like to cancel anyway?

Is changing the booking not an option for you and do you have to cancel your reservation? Of course we are sad to hear that, but a cancellation is easily arranged as well.
