Latvia's road network is modern and well-maintained, with generally wide roads. Do note the condition of some rural roads, which can be narrower. During the winter months, roads can be slippery due to snow and ice, so be extra careful then.
For the mountainous terrain in some parts of Latvia, such as the Vidzeme region, it is advisable to rent a car rental with a larger engine, for example an SUV. This provides more power when climbing hills and mountains.
